The Team

Beatrice Chia-Richmond

Creative Director

Having directed over 40 productions in under 10 years, Beatrice inspires, pushes and drives the arts scene in Singapore. A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the primo director slips effortlessly onstage and behind the scenes, with equally distinguished contributions to film and theatre.

A study in dichotomies, numerous awards – including the National Arts Council's Young Artist Award, the nation's highest accolade for the arts – sit blithely alongside impassioned censure from conservative camps for her more progressive and intellectually demanding works. Thriving in this interplay between shadow and light, Beatrice's directorial works are always anticipated, always peerless.

Awards:
Best Director, Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards 2002
Play of the Year (Bent), Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards 2004
Best Actress (Dead Certain), Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards 2005
Young Artist Award, National Arts Council, 2006
3rd Prize (Mad Beat In Your Mouth), Asean New Media Arts Competition 2007

Irene Ang

Business Advisor

Irene Ang became a household name in Singapore (and some say Malaysia) as Rosie Phua in Singapore's longest running sitcom Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd and subsequently Phua Chu Kang Sdn Bhd, for which she was awarded Best Comedy Performance by an Actress at the Asian Television Awards.

As CEO of Singapore's first and largest Artiste Management Agency, FLY Entertainment Pte Ltd, Irene was nominated Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and honoree of Spirit of Enterprise and named Top 25 Most Powerful Businesswomen of 2008 by The Executive Magazine.

From the Mabel in I am Lobang King to Wan Choo in Beauty World and Guan Yim Mah in the V Conference, Irene's affinity with the masses is evident when she was voted 8Days Readers' Poll's Favorite Comedian and Best Makeover Award.

Irene also created her own stand-up show The V Conference in 2007 and its subsequent yearly installments The Return of the V 2008, The Extraordinary V 2009 , The VLEE Conference 2010, and earned her the reputation of "one of the most engaging stand-up comedy shows of the year" by channelnewsasia.com!

Irene also lent her genius to creating the inaugural Asian Camp Comedy Festival 06 & 08 which saw international acts convening in Singapore for the first time.

Constantly finding ways to give back to society, Irene has found her element in speaking to people of all ages and stature in society, including the Singapore Management University, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Fujitsu Asia, the Singapore Girls' Home, National Library Board, MediaCorp Radio, MediaCorp Studios and Hewlett Packard. Her ability to connect via sharing her stories to success is evident.

Irene made such an impact as a panel speaker at the Singapore Women's Congress in 2004 that they invited her back as the opening speaker in 2005. In that same year, Irene was also invited to speak at the Global Speakers Summit 2005, organized by International Federation for Professional Speakers and hosted by Asia Speakers Association of Singapore.

Irene has devoted her time to social causes by lending her voice as Ambassador to various social campaigns like Graciousness Campaign with Land Transport Authority, Voice of Kindness with Singapore's Kindness Movement, It Starts Today Anti-Recession Campaign for Young Business Leaders as well as taking the seat of Creative Director behind the National Day Pledge Moment 2009.

In recognition of her passion and influence on various local communities, The National Heritage Board has also invited Irene to serve as a Board Member for a term of 2 years since Aug 2009, to be involved in various heritage and cultural projects.

For her contribution to the arts and media industry in Singapore, Irene was also recently awarded 'Greatest Women of Our Time 2010' by Singapore Women's Weekly Magazine.

From entrepreneur to entertainer, motivational speaker to stand-up comedian, creative director to model Singaporean, Irene proves that there are no limits to flying high in her svelte figure courtesy of Marie France Bodyline. Having worked her way up from her days as a wubbie, Irene is the quintessential success story – of someone who has reached her acme, and yet shows no signs of slowing down. She does not scale peaks, she creates them.

In 2010, Irene was invited into sit on the board of The International Academy of Television Arts and Science, making her the first Singaporean actress in history to join this elite group of international media superpowers.

Fans from Singapore and Malaysia finally got to see their favorite family on the big screens in Phua Chu Kang the Movie in 2010. Irene hit the big screens again with her newest subsidiary company A.I Pictures' first movie Perfect Rivals in March 2011. This movie also sees Irene taking on the Executive Producer role for the first time.

This poster girl for over-achievement runs six burgeoning businesses while juggling a successful entertainment career. Irene is proudly represented by FLY Entertainment.

Wendy Ng

Producer

With unquestionable adroitness and nary a battle scar from her many years in the industry, Wendy's unostentatious manner and unwavering rationality plants a steadying hand on the creative hubbub behind productions, keeping the process well-oiled and engines purring.

The blithe jauntiness in which she changes between the many hats that she wears – from the management of artistes and production crew to design, marketing and sales – is a veritable performance in itself.

Cutting her teeth on the groundbreaking Camp Comedy in 2006, Wendy has since seen the V Conference series – an annual sketch comedy that began in 2007 – through three incarnations. She also co-produced the original musical Sleepless Town in 2009 alongside creative compatriot and director Beatrice Chia-Richmond.

Having brought in Swing Out Sister last year, Wendy is currently working on making the Faith Concert and Retrolicious harmonic realities.
